Abstract

Maria Auxiliadora Institute was present in the Malvinas Islands for 35 years (1907 – 1942). The Salesian Historical Archive of South Argentina – CABA headquarters, houses various sources that document this presence, among them the “Chronicle of the Departure of the FMA from the Malvinas Islands” during the Second World War. This document includes the testimony of two of the religious members of that community, in which they explain the reasons for their return to the Punta Arenas headquarters until the war ended, but the return to the islands never took place. Despite the decade that passed since the events, the testimony is reliable and confirms what is described in the Chronicle of the House, written at the time of the departure.
