This article describes the Apostolic Vicariate of Magallanes, according to the ISAAR (CPF) standard of the ICA. This ecclesial institution governed the missions of the extreme south between 1916 and 1947.
In the documentation, both personal and functions, the jurisdictional dispute between the Chilean State, the diocese of Ancud and the Salesian Congregation is evidenced, in a sort of overlap that was reflected in different conflicts, which were resolved through the creation of the Vicariate that remained in office for thirty-one years.
